Seven Thousand Years in Seven Days – A sample soft-adventure itinerary for Malta & Gozo
Day 1 – Valletta: Begin with the Knights
Arrive in Malta and settle into Valletta.
Spend the afternoon wandering the historic streets, discovering St John’s Co-Cathedral, the Upper Barrakka Gardens and the city’s impressive harbour views.
Finish with dinner overlooking the Grand Harbour.
Soft adventure moment: Take the time to explore Valletta on foot rather than rushing between attractions.

Day 2 – Mdina & the Ancient Heart of Malta
Head to the ancient walled city of Mdina and wander its atmospheric medieval streets.
Continue to the nearby prehistoric temples of Ħaġar Qim and Mnajdra, where you’ll encounter some of Malta’s oldest surviving structures.
Finish the day with a relaxed dinner in a traditional village.
Soft adventure moment: Walk the ancient streets of Mdina and imagine the thousands of years of history beneath your feet.

Day 3 – Comino: Blue Water Adventure
Today it’s time to get on the water.
Take a boat trip to Comino and explore the famous Blue Lagoon, with time for swimming and snorkelling.
For something more active, take a kayak along the coastline and discover some of the island’s quieter corners.
Return to Malta for a relaxed evening.
Soft adventure moment: Swap the sightseeing bus for a kayak and see the coastline from the water.

Day 4 – Gozo: Slow Down
Catch the ferry to Gozo and embrace island life at a slower pace.
Explore Victoria and the historic Citadel before heading into the countryside.
Enjoy a long lunch featuring local produce, then spend the afternoon discovering one of Gozo’s beautiful coastal areas.
Stay overnight on Gozo if you want to experience the island after the day-trippers have left.
Soft adventure moment: Take a countryside walk and leave room in the day for spontaneous discoveries.
Day 5 – Gozo by Land & Sea
Continue exploring Gozo with a gentle coastal walk, village visit or boat excursion.
Spend some time swimming or simply enjoying the scenery before a relaxed afternoon.
As the sun begins to drop, find a viewpoint and watch the Mediterranean change colour.
Soft adventure moment: A day with no strict agenda, just a beautiful island and plenty of time to explore.
Day 6 – The Three Cities & Malta’s Maritime Story
Return to Malta and explore the historic Three Cities — Vittoriosa, Senglea and Cospicua.
Take a traditional harbour boat and see the magnificent Grand Harbour from the water.
Spend your final evening enjoying a long Mediterranean dinner.
Soft adventure moment: Experience Malta from the harbour rather than simply looking at it from land.
Day 7 – Swim, Taste & Savour
Don’t spend your final morning rushing between attractions.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before discovering one of Malta’s quieter swimming spots or coastal walks.
Finish your Maltese adventure with a local food experience, perhaps a cooking class, market visit or long lunch celebrating everything you’ve discovered during the week.
Soft adventure moment: Finish exactly as you started, curious, comfortable and ready for the next adventure.

Seven thousand years. Seven days. Countless stories.
You won’t see everything Malta has to offer in a week. And that’s the point. Travel isn’t about ticking every box. It’s about finding those moments that stay with you long after you’ve returned home.
Maybe Malta is your next first-time feeling.
When was the last time you did something for the first time?
